Protected conversations... What is the "hidden situation" of Chat GPT?

OpenAI said on Tuesday that it would introduce what an employee called "incognito mode" for the successful chatbot ChatGPT, which will not preserve or use user conversation records to improve its artificial intelligence, according to a Reuters report.

The San Francisco-based startup said it plans to launch a new subscription called ChatGPT Business with additional data controls.

The move comes as questions about how to manage other chatbots inspired by Chat GPT have increased, hundreds of millions of user data that are typically used to improve or "train" artificial intelligence.

Italy last month banned Chat GPT for potential privacy violations, saying OpenAI could resume service if it met the government's regulatory demands such as giving consumers tools to object to processing their data. France and Spain also began investigating the service.

Mira Morati, chief technology officer at OpenAI, said the company was complying with European privacy law and reassuring regulators.

The new features did not arise from the ban on Chat GPT in Italy, but from a months-long effort to put users "in the driver's seat" with regard to data collection.

"We will move more and more in this direction to prioritize user privacy," Morati said.

User information helped OpenAI to make its software more reliable and reduced political bias, among other things, according to Morati, but added that the company still faced challenges that needed to be addressed.

The product version allows users to turn off the "chat history and training" in their settings and export their data.

Nicholas Turley, an OpenAI product officer, who likened the new feature to the Internet browser's hidden browser mode, said the company still kept conversations for 30 days to monitor abuse before it was permanently deleted.

In addition, the Chat GPT Business subscription that will be available in the coming months will not use talks to train the AI model by default.

Microsoft - which has invested in OpenAI - already offers Chat GPT software to companies, and Murati said this service will attract existing customers of the cloud service provider.
